Amber date large, firm, and naturally structured with a thick texture unlike any other variety we carry. These are not soft or sticky; they have a clean, defined bite and a mild sweetness that makes them stand out.

Taste & texture: Firm and dry with a thick, almost meaty texture and a gentle, understated sweetness. If you find most dates too soft or too sweet, Amber is your variety.

Best for: Sharing platters · Gifting · Desserts · Those who prefer less sweetness

Why Roots Amber?
Enjoy 100% natural dates with no processing, directly sourced for premium quality. Not polished, not glazed, not treated. What you see is what the date naturally looks like and that's the point.

Not like supermarket dates, here's what to expect

Amber is one of the most misunderstood varieties for anyone used to supermarket dates. Here's what to expect so there are no surprises:

• They're intentionally firm and dry. Amber is not a soft date. The dense, dry, structured texture is the defining characteristic of this variety, not a quality issue.
• They're large and darker in colour. Dark amber tones with a thick skin. Very different from sticky dates, most UK buyers are familiar with.
• The sweetness is subtle. Amber won't hit you with an intense sugar rush. The flavour is mild and clean  more like a nut than a confection.
• No shine, no gloss. Natural dates don't look like supermarket dates. Amber, especially the matte, uneven appearance, is how they come off the palm.

Amber is a date for people who already know dates well, or who are curious to try something completely different. If you're new to dates, try our Discovery Bundle first.
